    I grew it in Santa Cruz County, CA, and would really like to plant it where I live now: 8b, Port Angeles, WA. But I can't find it here, so even though it supposedly grows here, does that mean it probably won't? You do a great job. Thank you.

    Native host plants are highly recommended to support pollinators throughout their life cycles. You stress native plants; however, many of the plants included are not native.

    I’m in zone nine a and my pepper plants don’t die due to cold temperatures as it doesn’t get that cold here. So my pepper plants are perennials not annuals. I grow them in a 5 gallon bucket. Do you know if that is OK since I have pepper plants that are now going on two years old plus? Or should I be growing up in larger pot sizes since they’re perennial not an annual for my zone/climate?

      😂😂😂Same here! I was admiring someone’s plant one day and they tried to encourage me that I could grow it too because it was “ Very difficult to kill!” As much as I love healthy plants, all I heard was, “ Here’s a challenge to see if you can kill this plant.” To which I said, “ Challenge accepted!” Sure enough, I overwatered it and tried to remedy it, but failed, miserably. RIP!

    I Planted 9 star jasmine alongside my gate to give my front porch some privacy they are about two feet apart from one another. I noticed one with starting to show sad looking brown leaves at the battom. I live in LA, and the area they are in is full sun. I initially started watering twice a day and backed off after 1 week to every other day. This was 3 weeks ago. Any tips?

    • @Gardendesignmag
      @Gardendesignmag 13 дней назад

      They could just be settling in if still new. Try watering every day, especially in this heat. As Janey mentions, they use a bit more water than she expected to do really well. Yellow and wilting would be more of a sign of overwatering. It may also be sun scald if they were just recently put into full sun from a more protected area.

    Here in the mid Atlantic we have enough humidity in summer, but winters can be brutal if your plant is potted. Although my star jasmine has been an ina thin plastic pot for 2 winters and co es back each year. Just repotted today for growth. It’s that 3rd year leap I hope.

  • @edi9892
    @edi9892 Месяц назад

    Quite reasonable, but I missed two things: 1) look at the path of the sun, and prevailing wind direction, and assess your garden humidity. It's not just for picking the right plants, but also to find the ideal spot for you to enjoy your garden! This includes planting trees for shade or using a horizontal fence. You don't want to have too little sun, nor too much and the same goes for the wind... I've seen roofs that utterly failed their purpose of keeping the area dry, thanks to the prevailing wind throwing the rain all the way in. Using tarps or actual roofs often traps heat and makes sitting unbearable in summer unless the wind can pick up the trapped heat... 2) At least mentally, mark out the space you want to keep open! You don't want to walk like through a jungle each time you cross your garden! Similarly, as with urban planning, consider areas with low height, medium height and tall height. Consider how far you want to be able to see from your window or outdoor sitting area. For instance, you might want to surround the sitting area such that you can't see in or out, but can see the garden when you stand up, or you may want to make it a nook from which you frame the rest of your garden...

After some research, I chose the Helen von Stein stachys (fyi, it is pronounced "Helen fon Shtine") and we just planted it today. As luck would have it, I found your video afterward. We moved into a house with a star jasmine plant. I was so excited! The plant itself is thriving and I have to constantly cut back the vines because it is constantly growing. The only drawback is that it hasn’t bloomed at all. I have never seen a flower or even flower buds on it the who year and a half we’ve been here. Unfortunately, it is planted in a place where it doesn’t get much sun throughout the year. I’ve been thinking about digging up and placing it in a pot where it’ll get more sun. Again, please help!!
